The Alpenlite 2XT–Eureka’s lightest, most compact 4-season tent–offers uncompromising shelter from the elements, plenty of ventilation options, and enough room for two sleepers. It features a strong A-frame design with steep walls that’s optimal for shedding snow. One of the best ventilated tents available, it boasts on door, two roof vents, one rear window, and four side vents. The attached front dual-zippered vestibule is handy for excess gear and easy entry/exit, and it features a cold weather PU transparent window to brighten the interior. “the ventalation system is good but it gets hot in the summer when the sun hits the tent! the construction is extremly sturdy I cant wait until the snow starts fallin so I can take it out to the backcountry!!! the 6 pole system is a dream, but get a foot print cuz the bottom is kind of thin without!! best purchase I have made in a while!!

“I use this tent when cycling and it is a good tent for one person and his/her gear. I just returned from a ten night trip on which it was pitched/taken down daily, and it performed well, never leaking or even getting damp inside including two nights of steady, heavy rain. The multiple vent system prevented condensation during many hours inside. It does tend to get a bit warm during hours in the sun. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good little tent at a somewhat lower end price.”

“I received the tent yesterday, and decided to `field test’ it in our backyard. The tent was simple to erect, I was especially impressed by the quality of the tent poles (not your cheap fiberglass, but quality machined aluminum) and how the tent was super-compact and lightweight. The temperature plunged to 39 degrees F, and we were very comfortable inside (wearing t-shirts and shorts with only a light blanket. The relative humidity was 97%, yet the ventilation inside is well-designed and there was almost no condensation. I definitely will feel comfortable taking this tent on extended backpacking trips in all sorts of weather. Will probably purchase several others for the kids.”

“This tent is light and rolls up easily with a good waterproof floor so no footprint is needed. The rain fly is a bit short, which in my view means this tent is not truly 4 season. It is relatively easy to set up, except it is quite challenging to thread the poles into the sleeves. I recommend buying a tent with an external frame rigging to avoid that difficulty. It was very sturdy against sustained 40 mph winds in Patagonia. The biggest problem with this tent (and the reason I rated it low) is because the pole and stake grommets were so badly crimped that most came out on first use. It also appears the zipper fabric will begin to tear after continued use because the fabric is quite thin and the fibers were beginning to separate after a couple of set ups. Still it is a good value for occasional use (if you don’t mind replacing the grommets).”

“I just recently loaded this tent onto my motorcycle and drove up to Laconia NH for bike week. I read every review that I could find on this tent before purchasing and I found equal amounts of negative and positive words. Upon receiving the tent I was amazed at the size and weight. At 16 inches long and seven and a half pounds (I weighed it myself) I knew I could travel with it easily. Right away I unpacked it and began setting it up. It did take a little bit of time to get the hang of stringing the poles through, and it would have been a lot easier with two people but I found no real challenge to setting this tent up or breaking it down. I also found that once it’s been used for the first time set up is much easier. The material that the poles have to slide through was sticking together on the first set up. But when I had to set it up for camping it went much smoother. I’m 6′2 190lbs and my wife is 5′2 (never mention a ladies weight ha ha ha) and had plenty of room to stretch out in it lengthwise. Even side to side there was enough room so we weren’t kicking each other in the night. During one of the nights when we were sleeping it started raining so I brought in my backpack and another bag, put it at my feet and was still comfortable. With the rain fly on I had no problem with keeping the water out, and the way it stakes down in the front I even had a place to keep my boots dry! With the fly off there was plenty of fresh air thanks to the two giant zippered skylight panels. Over all I was completely satisfied with this tent. For the price you really can’t pass this one up! “This has to be my favorite Eureka 4-season tent. If I only had one tent for everything (yeah, right!), this would be the one. The geodesic dome shape (4 aircraft aluminum poles) is incredibly strong…maybe the strongest of all tent designs. Ripstop fabric with extra waterproof coating will stop rain, snow and ice and the unique guy-line arrangement gives me some flexibilty when anchoring this tent. Like my Alpenlite 2XT, this tent comes with two vestibules and the rear vesti can be accessed from inside the tent via a second/back door. I wasn’t sure about all the vents at first but I’m finding that they make the tent a good choice for warmer weather, too! I’ve posted a bunch of pictures for this tent so take a look. If there is a down side to this tent…it’s a bit heavy for a backpack. The fix for this?…I fall back on Boy Scout training and divide the components. I’ll carry the tent body and my friend Sharon Sharalike gets the rainfly, poles and stakes. An outstanding tent!!!”

“My wife and I have used this tent in cold winter with lots of snow and hot summer nights with lots of rain.The K2-XT has lots of venting for summer temps and will close up tightly if sub zero breezes need to be totally kept out for some reason..poor sleeping bag?The brilliant fly colour makes this outstanding tent stand out.. But for stealth camping it would be nice if manufacturers offered a choice of fly colours.The materials used by Eureka on the K2-XT are tough and look and feel top knotch.We have slept in winds over 40 mph when gusts might frighten some sane folks.We used oversized stakes.The many guyouts did their job and there was no damage to poles or tent body or fly materials.No footprint was available so I made one to fit from plastic tarp material. Happy camping!”
