“I’ve had this tent for over 10 years and it has seen plenty of camping. It is well ventilated with good seams. We’ve slept is it during hellacious rain storms with high winds, lightning and buckets of rain and it is has performed admirably. Be sure to seal the seams every year as you would any tent. We usually camp in the woods so it hasn’t had much uv exposure, but we still use this… I’d buy another… At 7 foot center, you can stand and stretch in it. Our family is only three, me, my wife, our son and our flat coat retriever… plenty of room to play cards etc in rain storms…”

“The tent is very spacious and airy. That may be the reason it can be colder than some of the tents which are smaller and not as well ventilated. A word of caution – make sure it is well staked down or the shape makes it take off like a sail. We went camping in Yellowstone this summer and the wind blew it around as we were putting it up. Also, the size can make it harder to find a good camping site.”

“First of all let me say that from experience I can tell you without a doubt that we will ONLY buy Eureka brand tents because of their quality of construction, durability, and speedy ease of setup/breakdown.

I bought this tent under the Amazon review/recommendation that two queen beds would fit inside. The truth is that technically they do “fit” inside but not comfortably. When this tent arrived we set it up in the yard to make sure everything fit well together before taking it on a trip. I inflated two of our queen mattresses and put them inside. They fit *exactly* side by side with NO room between mattresses to put a lamp, gear, or even your foot. There is plenty of room at the foot of the beds for your gear but if you are like me, when you get out of bed you want to be able to put your feet down and stand up, not having to shimmy your way to the foot of the bed to crawl out at the foot of the bed. Queen mattresses are 5′ wide. Together that is 10′ which leaves only 1-foot of space between them which sounds like it would be okay but it isn’t because mattresses with bedding are poofy and take up all the space. Period. I believe this tent would best accommodate one Queen with one Twin, or, Two doubles. In rainy weather you’d want to move your items away from the inside walls of the tent, with two Queens side by side you can’t really do this so trust me, this tent is better suited for a queen and a twin.

That being said, this tent has some EXCELLENT features. The ceiling height is absolutely HUGE. I could not touch the ceiling even on my tippy-toes. The gear loft is marvelous and would be very useful. There are two vents in the ceiling and windows on all FOUR sides which I really like for maximum ventilation! I also love the high/low vent on the door. I love the interior pocket. I love the deeply pitched rainfly over the windows – serious protection from rain coming in the windows and the fact that the seams are taped as well as double sewn. Very well done Eureka! The color is gorgeous, the rainfly sparkles like a new copper penny in the sun. The mesh is ultra fine – better than any other tent I’ve ever owned. The tent took mere minutes to set up right out of the bag and was just as easy to break down. The zippers worked smoothly, no chance of the zipper fabric getting caught in these because there isn’t any! Another finely engineered tent by Eureka! My only regret is that this tent does not come in a 13×11 size.

I want to say once again that the peaks on the rainfly are ideal for keeping wet weather away from the windows… just compare them to any other tent style to see what I mean. It’s a no brainer. The ceiling height is cavernous, really excellent of them to finally make a super tall ceiling. You’ll want to play basketball in there.

I also want to say that Eureka is spot-on when it comes to guy-line free tents! This tent is stable even without being staked down and there will be NO guy lines for you and the kids to trip over, not to mention never having to rely on the soil’s ability to hang on to a stake. Anyone who has had their stakes come out in soft or sandy soil knows exactly what I mean! No worries with this tent!

PS: We also own the Eureka Sunrise9 which fits the teens’ two twin beds beautifully and has a lot of great features. It’s also a keeper!

UPDATE! Over Memorial Day weekend we ended up taking the Bitteroot on a Disney Camping trip… gave it to the kids to use as a ’spare’ tent and OH WHAT FUN they had! They were able to fit 2 twin mattresses in there with loads and loads of room to spare. Even I, Mom, was envious. The tent is is giagantic and roomy inside but I personally wouldn’t put two queen beds side by side in there. There was so much room in this tent it was unbelieveable. They had a lot of camp-site-friends come in to play – no problem at all and ventilation was great even with a lot of goofy kids inside. It was very easy to set up. I was skeptical because we had planned to take the 9×9 but ended up packing this 11×11 instead. This tent plus another 13×10 AND a 12×10 canopy will fit in a Disney Fort Wilderness tent site no problem!

Another Upate: This tent spent it’s second trip at Hillsborough River State Park over Thanksgiving. People actually stopped by to ask about it because they watched us set it up in minutes and it’s so pretty and large. They couldn’t believe how big it was inside. Later that trip we added a third twin bed with no problems. This tent also took it’s first rain like a champ with no leaks or odd smells. I love this bitteroot!”

“I needed to replace my car camping/kick around tent,which was an 18 yr. old Timberline 4. The Timberline design is about as fast and easy setup as it gets,and all things considered, not bad stability. The new outfitter 6 is a step up as it has stronger materials and two doors. I am 6′2″ and have headroom to stand up straight. This is a luxurious walk in,A-frame cabin tent for 2,with a ton of gear and cots! It will comfortably sleep 4 or 5,(6 in a pinch). The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is Eureka only put 2 mesh pockets in a tent this size(why not 4 or 6 ?). Also the heavy, awkward, hard to use metal clips that attach the body to the fly could have been nylon/fastex. I highly recommend this tent for car camping, basecamp,even some canoe camping.”

“I am a little obsessed at times, in a good way. I wont buy something for good until I have tried and researched as many alternatives as I can. I tried the Northface trailhead 6, a couple of Kelty Tents, and an REI base camp. All of these were fine tents, however the Eureka is the fastest tent I have ever set up, I can do it by myself in ten minutes without breaking a sweat. It is made out of ripstop nylon, something that is increasingly hard to find these days. I am 6′4 and can stand up perfectly in it.

One thing I would mention is that the floor saver is a little cheap, but other than that I love it.

I think it is a little tight for 6 people, but other than that this is the perfect tent. the Northface Trailhead 6 was a close second but a pain to put up.”

“Bought this tent and set it up in the backyard, then returned it, so we didn’t actually use it. Setup was fairly easy – the directions’ color-coding didn’t correspond with what our tent had, so it was easier to just follow the directions in general, but just wing it otherwise. The tent was roomy enough with straight-up sides, not sloping, for more usable floor space. The closet looked like a nice feature, with kind of flimsy looking shelves. That would have been nice to hold lightweight items only. It had no place on the ceiling to clip an item like a light or fan. The hinged, rigid-frame door was nice.

We ended up not keeping it because of lack of air flow and circulation, and the lack of windows. The “windows” are only on the top half of the door – otherwise no windows at all in the tent. You can’t see outside except thru the door windows (which caused my husband to be a bit claustrophobic). The top of the tent is screened but that is completely covered by the rainfly. Not too practical in our southern heat – we needed more airflow and windows to see and breathe out of.”

“Found this to be an awesome tent. Sure the windows are covered but tents are made just for sleeping. We weathered some serious New Hampshire rain in this tent and stayed dry the whole time. On some of the nights when rain was not a threat we just removed the fly and had an amazing view of the entire mountain night sky as the whole top half of the dome of the tent is open screened was very cool. All in all its a great car camp tent for sure. We had no problem with it and will enjoy it immensely in the future. It was good for the money and a great space for myself, my wife an our australian shepherd. If your worried about rain and having to be inside (besides for sleeping at night) I would suggest a dining canopy?”
