“WOW! this tent is amazing. It had enough room to sleep two comfortably. It also had a vestibule for wet shoes or boots and maybe a backpack. Like most places the weather in my back yard was in a dry state so my dad and I tested it with the gardening hose. At first we did the regular rain and it was completely dry except for under the vestibule where the velcro on the door wasn’t closed. After that we did the thunderstorm in which he aimed the hose directly at the tent and it still did not leak. After that I spent the night in it. When I woke up the next morning it was completely dry, and there were no dead bugs like in my bad, store brand tent that I had previosly. I would definately give this tent five stars and I would recommend it to friends and campers/backpackers everywhere.”

“I purchase this tent and used it the next day. The good: Lots of interior room, enough for 2 adults and 2 small backpacks. I was even able to fit a queen size coleman inflatable mattress inside(At home to test it)with room to spare. Very easy to set up, I read the instructions and timed myself, it took me 10 minutes. With screen mesh all around it was very comfortable, even with the Texas summer heat. Comes with a 5 year warranty. The bad: At 6 pounds Is a little on the heavy side for most solo backpackers(I personally don’t mind the weight in exchange for all the room). The tent isn’t free standing, make sure to get good stakes for hard or rocky ground. It didn’t rain when I used it, so I can’t comment on how waterproof it is, but I always seal the seams on all my tents as soon as I buy them.”

“I slept in this tent for several days up in the Appalachian Mountains. It was very comfortable and I had no problems with staying dry either from condensation in the morning or from the one day it rained. It was easy to put together, has nice ventilation options and convenient storage pockets etc. I slept in it by myself and had plenty of room. I think it would be a little crowded with two people, but since there are two doors it would definitely be possible. You wouldn’t have to crawl over you camping buddy to get out and go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.”

“I picked this up for my 10 year old son as his first tent. We took it on a scout camp out this weekend and got to try it out. This tent was easy enough to put up in the rain, though due to the design, the poles require some effort to put through the sleeves. The fly went on in a heartbeat. I was surprised it has taped seams instead of a bathtub floor, but I put a tarp under it and even though we pitched it on wet muddy ground and had some light rain we stayed very dry. The temperature dropped unexpectedly overnight, and I was nicely surprised by how much warmer it was in the tent than outdoors when I opened up the tent to go. We had a heavy hard frost on the outside of the tent, some condensation inside. This tent also took the wind very well, even though the wind took down two other tents near us. Without the fly the ventilation looks good for a hot summer night, with it I think there is very good rain / wind protection. The fly allows for flexible ventilation, as needed, for in-between weather. Lots of pockets to store stuff inside, and plenty of room in the vestibule for boots, etc. True, it is heavy for backpacking, but we plan to use it as a big kid car camping tent. With two people and minimal gear (winter coats, two small backpacks) we were nice and cozy.”

The tent was simple to erect, I was especially impressed by the quality of the tent poles (not your cheap fiberglass, but quality machined aluminum) and how the tent was super-compact and lightweight. The temperature plunged to 39 degrees F, and we were very comfortable inside (wearing t-shirts and shorts with only a light blanket. “I am a GEARhead. I own or have owned over 30 tents plus all the fixings… Both backpacking as well as car camping. This tent as far as I know did not exist when I rewalked Colin Fletcher’s 1000 Mile Summer through California. Had it, I would’ve of used the 1.5 model. After getting home and settling in from my walk I ran across both the 1.5 and 2. I own both now and can say they both are killer deals in their price range. And yes I own SD, REI, Kelty, Coleman/Exponent, Moss, Slumberjack Bivy (I used) and on and on and on… I have tried many while hiking in the Olympic Mountains in WA. I would put this model(s) up against any listed. If you have money to burn yes there are some that may be better at lasting a little longer but I question that too… and yes you can go lighter in weight… but by going lighter you’ll give up a lot of comfort and the security you get knowing that you have a shelter that will handle just about anything Mother nature throws at you. Alps other models I’m not sure of size VS. weight and the value VS. dollars. But this model is absolutely great.

“Bought this for my Scout. I went on the trip with him. Scotchgaurded it prior as I always do to outdoor equipment. Had heavy rain. Bone dry inside. I wouldn’t say this is a two man tent for men. Two kids or one adult and a child fit great. Very easy to put up. My Scout is 11, and he did it first try.”

“I got this tent on Amazon for a little under $200 and for that price it is a good tent. My wife and two kids(4 & 7 yrs old) have backpacked with this tent twice already. It hasn’t rained hard yet, but so far has been easy to use seems to be well made.
