Customer reviews for Coleman SunDome 7-Foot by 7-Foot 3-Person Dome Tent (Orange/Gray):

“This is only the second tent I’ve ever owned. The first one was a real crappy sub $20 from Sports Authority. That $20 one worked fine for that one night I used it for but I vowed spend a little more next time and hope for much better quality. The 2-person $20 leaked a bit, was terribly cramped and was awfully humid inside. All of those problems went away with this Coleman. Here are just a few reasons why I’m very happy with my purchase:

First, the price was pretty reasonable. If you find another brand with a similar design for a little less, that’s fine and all but I was happy to pay what I paid and get a Coleman – even someone that has never been camping before knows Coleman is pretty trusted when it comes to things like tents, coolers and anything you use outdoors.

Second, I thought most of the other reviews here were pretty favorable. I’m just a guy that wants to head to a campsite 2-3 times a year and spend a night or two with my girlfriend. There was another review here about how it fit a guy and his fiancée with a queen size air mattress very well. That review pretty much sold me and it was spot on. I also learned that a queen size air mattress is actually a little smaller than a regular size full size you’d have in your home. That’s still fine for two people but just don’t think you’re going to fit a giant mattress in there. The “queen” Coleman air mattress I purchased fit very well with ample room to spare.

Third, I like the colors of this tent – definitely not a great reason to base your choice of shelter but I still like the way it looks.

Fourth, It poured rain as we slept the first night. It was a pretty bad thunderstorm and it came down hard. There were not any leaks I could find. It also probably helped that this was a brand new tent, I’m pretty sure all tents will spring leaks as they get older and require seam sealer.

Fifth, Ease of use – this thing goes up and comes down pretty easily. A child can figure this thing out and it fits in a bag that’s pretty small and easy to manage.

So if you’re like me and just need a nice little tent for the occasional camping trip, this is a great choice. You can see how it looks in my pics compared to a giant 8 person tent too.”

Customer reviews for Coleman Red Canyon 17-Foot by 10-Foot 8-Person Modified Dome Tent:

“My husband and I were able to set the tent up easily. The second day of camping it started to sprinkle , then during the night and early morning it poured. We didn’t have one drop of water in our tent. It was wonderful after prior
experiences with two different tents. (Indoor pools in our tent)
There are two panels you can hang to divide the space. My kids each had their own room on the ends.
We liked the little mesh panel for the ceiling used for a small cargo hold.
Highly recommended!”

“This is a nice, spacious SUMMER tent. Don’t even think about using it if its spring/fall and the temperatures might drop, but its fantastic in hot weather, rain or not. Also this isn’t a tent for windy conditions due to its high profile. I can set this tent up alone, although getting the rain fly over the top can be a bit tricky on my own, it does eventually get there. I hadn’t thought about how tough it would be for 65″ tall me to get a rain fly over the 78″ top of a 10×17′ tent! I bought this tent for summer camping when rain was a likely complication, when I am NOT packing it more than a few yards from the vehicle. (It is a heavy tent.) It holds a table, chairs, cot, gear, and dog quite comfortably and is ridiculously spacious when I am camping alone. When a group is camping and the weather goes wet, it becomes a great place for people to get together out of the rain and have coffee, play cards, etc. I do think the “cool port” thing is about the dumbest looking thing I have ever seen on a tent though…it looks like either a demented dog door or I’m expecting the little people to join me. The “mud mat” is also rather dorky. Being three room is kind of stretching it, but the curtains are useful for changing clothes when there is a mixed group together.

Minuses on this tent: it has a single d-door with a single zipper pull, which starts on the bottom. It has huge mesh sections in the ceiling over the ends, and there isn’t any way to close them off. It lacks extra tie down points on the rain fly for foul weather when the wind kicks up a bit, which means its inclined to really start popping in a gust. There are not very many stake points on the tent itself either, which also help in foul weather.

This is a very decent budget tent for summer use.”

Customer reviews for Wenzel Timber Ridge Sport 9-by-7-Foot Four-Person Dome Tent :

“I’ve been camping a few times in the past few months. This tent has been of great value:

* easy to assemble/dis-assemble – This tent is remarkably easy to assemble, it took a friend and myself about 15 minutes the first time. And I’ve had my share of tents that would refuae to stay up even after spending an hour on them. This is the most attractive feature of this tent for me.

* Quite sturdy and weather-proof too – The manufacturer has given nails which can be used to hold the tent down. I’ve run into rain twice with these tents, and not had a problem either time. There are mesh flaps on the side and at the top which let air in on a clear night, but they can be covered up to keep the rain out.

* It holds three adults and it has ample space for two.

I’d completely agree with one of the other reviewer’s remarks about the tiny bag that the tent comes in. It took us more than 20 mins just to squeeze the tent back into that small bag. But you could instead easily use the carton the tent in for holding the tent.

I would certainly recommend this for campers.”

Great for hiking and biking trips, the Ponderosa two-room tent is lightweight enough at 10.8 pounds to carry on a backpack or saddle bags yet spacious enough to sleep four people at once. The tent base measures 10 feet by 8 feet, with a height in the center of 60 inches–more than enough space for an informal game of cards at midnight. The removable divider curtain, meanwhile, adds a bit of privacy in crowded conditions. Construction details range from a shock-corded fiberglass frame with a pin and ring connection to a weather-armor polyester fabric with a polyurethane coating. The frame is designed for quick and easy setup–a far cry from the clunky frames of yesteryear–while the coated fabric is reliable and sturdy regardless of the weather.

And should the rains come pouring down, the tent’s armor-tough seams and water-repellent threads, zippers, and webbing stand ready to resist. The tent even includes sonic-sealed floors that are welded (not sewn) to eliminate stitch and needle holes, ensuring that water from rain-soaked dirt won’t sneak in. Additional details include three windows (two in the front and one in the rear), Dutch D-style doors for easy entry from either side of the tent, and four mesh roof vents for circulation and moisture control. The Ponderosa is backed by a 10-year limited warranty.

Customer reviews for Wenzel Ponderosa 10- by 8-Foot Four-Person Two-Room Dome Tent :

“My husband and I researched before deciding on this tent. We are casual campers so we didn’t need to spend a lot of money. But we wanted enough space for an air mattress and all our gear without having to push everything up along the sides. And we wanted easy set up. This tent fits the bill very well. There is gobs of room for 2 people and all their stuff. At 5′ 1″, I am able to stand up in the center (hubby has to bend over a bit). We used it this weekend and it was perfect for our needs. We did read that it is important to seal the seams when getting a new tent because of the little holes created by the sewing needle. We did that as soon as we got it, but we had perfect weather this past weekend, so I still don’t know how well it will hold up in crappy weather. I have high hopes, however. We had no trouble at all setting it up and all in all, we are very pleased with our purchase.”

“This tent was pretty easy to put up, even for a little first timer like myself ( I am under 5 feet and was able to do it by myself, although it recommends 2 people). Definately use 2 people if they are available, simply for holding the rods steady as the tent goes up. It drizzled a bit on the camping trip, and the tent held up well with no extra sealant, and was tall enough for me to stand in. The privacy curtain came in handy while dressing or napping, since I shared my tent with 1 other person most of the trip. The number of people that fits in the tent is misleading, the tent says it fits 4-5 people, when what it really fits is 3 twin size air mattresses side by side, with about 1 or 2 inches on either side. If there are just sleeping bags, no air mattresses, it could probably fit about 4 people. The tent comes down just as easily as it goes up and fits nicely into the provided bag.

Happy camping!”

Customer reviews for Columbia Bugaboo II 12-Foot-by-9-Foot 4-Pole 5-Person Dome Tent :

“After receiving this tent we did not have time to do a “dry run” of setting it up before we left on a three week vacation. Of course the first night we got to camp late and had to set it up in Big Bend National Park in near darkness with wind gusts of 35mph. Due to tent being large it was challenging but with the two of us it went quickly. The color coded poles are great help. The tent withstood the winds and light showers throughout the trip through Texas, New Mexico and Colorado. For two of us and our Jack Russell Terrier the size is great for all our gear and the dog to have room to play inside. I would highly recommend this tent for those who want quick set-up and durability.”

“I purchased the original version of this tent. About the only difference I see is that the rain fly covers the windows whereas the version I have does not. I would say this new version with the larger rain fly is a big improvement as it will cover the windows and further insure that water does not penetrate the windows seams or zipper.
I must clarify one point here. I have used my tent many times and almost always it has been used during rainy conditions. In some cases the rain was coming down sideways. Each and every time I would sit and wonder when the water would start to make it’s way in through the window seams or zippers. Never Happened!! The only time water has made it into the tent was when a downpour blew from the back side of the tent and water seeped in through the seam where the “instructions” where sewn into the seam on the back window. Water came in and dripped off the instruction label and puddled on the floor. Not much water but enough to make a few things damp.
I have since removed the label and applied a liberal amount of seam sealer. This has solved the problem.
If this new tent fly covers the windows (as it appears to in the picture) then this problem is likely solved. If this is the case then I can highly recommend this tent to any family camper.
It has survived downpours and very strong winds with myself and my two young daughters. I would pitch it anywhere at any time (winter excluded)and feel confident we will get through the night.
Update: One of the other reviewers mentions that the Bugaboo 2 uses inferior quality materials and workmanship. This is something you should consider before purchasing this tent especially now that the “bathtub” bottom is not made from tarp material. I felt this to be a testament ot durability.
Again, the only obvious benefit I saw to the Bugaboo 2 over the original Bugaboo is the larger rain fly. If Columbia is now using inferior quality materials and construction then the rain fly may be a mute point.”

Spacious and weather-resistant, the Wenzel Sycamore 18-by-10-foot dome tent sleeps up to seven campers in its three rooms, making it ideal for large families or smaller families with lots of gear. The Sycamore is made of rugged, weather-repellent polyester with a polyurethane coating for reliability, helping it keep water out and warmth in. The welded polyethylene tub-style floor, meanwhile, includes a rain shingle that creates a watershed effect, so rain doesn’t seep in through the seams. And campers will love the variety of ventilation points–including three Dutch D-style doors and three polyester mesh windows–all of which are aided by an updraft ventilation system that improves the overall airflow.

The Sycamore is also quick and easy to set up, with a five-way center hub with a fast-feet-and-ring system, along with a lightweight, shock-corded fiberglass frame. And when it comes time to hit the sheets, you can either create one huge sleeping room or roll down the two divider curtains to create three separate rooms. The rooms can function as individual bedrooms for all the campers, two sleeping rooms and one living room, or any other configuration. Other details include a gear loft for storage, a removable fly with a hoop frame over the door, and ABS plastic pegs.

Customer reviews for Wenzel Sycamore 18- by 10-Foot Seven-Person Three-Room Family Dome Tent :

“There are a few things you should know about this tent, else your expectations may not be met. If your needs match the strengths of this product, you should be plenty happy (like me), or vise versa. I found all the info I needed to decide to buy it online, with the exception of one phone call to the manufacturer. They were very helpful and honest, BTW.

They call it a 10×18, but that does not mean a 180 sqft area (I think it is more like 116 sqft). I would not take a trip knowing the weather was going to be pretty bad, with this tent. Four season tents usually cost a fortune, and my family is NOT well suited for extreme camping, so this tent works fine for us. The room ‘dividers’ are just flaps that attach at their four corners, so if you want to camp with three couples, stand by to get close (hey, its just a tent!).

Overall, for the money, it is a good value. The construction looks good and the design is fine, with one exception…

Some things I like: Three rooms, three doors, ground-level vent, mesh pockets and small access ‘doors’, generous screens, ease of setup, it fits back into the bag!!, and plenty of anchor points (large tent, high winds, you get it).
Things I would change: The rain cover leaves gaps next to the front door. If you can see screen, you stand a good chance of getting wet. The two side ‘rooms’ are fairly small. This works for kids, but adults may find it cramped.

Everyone’s needs vary, so know what you are buying and making a decision of what to buy should be simple. enjoy.”

Customer reviews for Kelty Trail Dome 4 Four Person Tent :

“Kelty makes great tents. They are well-made and go from box to fully setup in a matter of a few minutes. Very easy to set up!!!! We got this tent for two people and it works great with our queen airbed mattress. There is enough room for another person inside but not another mattress. The queen mattress touches 3 walls with a nice space left to store gear and clothing bags. We used it this past weekend and it was perfect. The tent is very lightweight and even though we were car-camping, it would be possible to carry this tent in a backpack.
Don’t get this tent if you have a family with kids, etc. Get a bigger tent, but I would recommend you get a Kelty! They are worth the extra $$.”

“The tent is AWESOME!!! The poles are very durable and secure, the zipper is smooth, and it is very lightweight for its size. But I have not tried it in stormy weather. The only disappointment I had was the size. It fits 3 people quite nicely, but with 4 people, you need to have the people lay diagnolly. The floor size is actually about a foot smaller when setup. A portion of the floor is forced upward by the force of the poles. I would not reccomend this tent for any group over 3 people. This price is a steal when compared to REI prices!”

Customer reviews for Columbia North Rim 10-Foot by 7-Foot 4 Person Dome Tent :

“I bought this tent from a sporting goods store to take on an overnight camping trip. It was a last minute purchase because the tent I already had that I thought would be ok wasn’t. I didn’t even take this out of the box prior to setting it up it was so last minute. All in all, I have no complaints whatsoever with this tent. The poles are color coded-blue pole through the blue loops, green pole through the green loops, black pole for the rainfly. It went up in about 10 minutes with two people setting everything up. The inside was nice and roomy-four adults, a medium sized cooler and some backpacks fit comfortably. I am 5′4″ tall and could almost stand up straight inside. The windows (3) were nice and big as was the door. There is a hook in the top of the tent for hanging a flashlight or battery lantern. There are side pockets attached for putting things like watches, glasses, or wallets, as well as cup holders and such that can be attached if desired. I didn’t bother as we were attending a weekend-long wine festival-I figured we wouldn’t care too much about cupholders There was an attached welcome-mat type thing that you could leave your shoes on so no dirt would get inside the tent.

During our stay it poured not once, but 3 times, and not a drop came inside as we had attached the rainfly just in case. Like I said before, I hadn’t taken it out to set it up or anything, so there was no additional seam seal or waterproofing on the tent and we stayed perfectly dry. I read reviews of other Columbia tents and saw complaints that their poles snapped, but we had no problem and it was fairly windy when it rained. I didn’t care for the metal stakes that came with the tent. I had purchased additional stakes after hearing complaints about those as well but didn’t need to use them. The ground was pretty rocky underneath the grass, so the stakes were difficult to put in without a mallet, but they remained in the ground, and the package came with more than enough to hold down the tent. Get a mallet and you’ll have no issues.

I only spent about $100 on this tent, and it was worth every penny. I have other Columbia products (winter coat) and have had no problems dealing with their warranty department. They seem to stand behind their products, and if there was ever an issue with this tent I wouldn’t expect to have any troubles with them. An awesome little tent, I say!”

Customer reviews for Texsport Camouflage Headquarters Square Dome Tent :

“This is the second tent of this kind that I have owned. The first one lasted me for a good 6 to 8 years and I camp about 4 to 5 times a year.

Overall this is a very nice tent. It’s quite roomy. You can sleep 4 on the ground but if you use a cot then only 2. You can get 3 in on a cot but it’s very tight quarters. The height is tall enough for me to stand-up (I’m 5′10). So it is nice when you have to change clothes.

There is a small hook that hangs down in the center. It’s nice for hanging a small battery lamp for a night light.

For day use, you can roll-up the front entry flap and secure it with a elastic loop that is sown into the tent. In the back you can unzip the secondary flap to create a window.

Set-up is not difficult. One person can do it but easier with two. With practice, it can be set up in about 10~15 min.

The material from the last tent held up quite well. What did the last tent in was that the zipper gave out and the mosquito screen got torn up. (Keep Velcro hooks away from it) As for the rest of the tent, it never tore.

Also, the bag that you store the tent in was a little tight. You basically had to pack the tent the way it came from the factory to get it to fit. The best way to do it is to fold the tent to the length of the pole bag. Put the pole bag on one end of the folded tent, then roll up the tent like an old style sleeping bag. When you’re done the tent will be wrapped around the pole bag tightly. Now it will fit in the bag. You can put the pole bag in the tent case first then try to stuff the tent in but its harder to do.

I would have given this tent a 5 star rating if the zipper and mosquito would have held up longer. The rest of the tent would have lasted many more years if it wasn’t for that. Otherwise it’s a great tent.”

Ideal for weekend camping trips with family and friends, Eureka’s Bitterroot square dome tent offers a spacious 121 square feet of room to comfortably sleep five to six campers. Protective enough for three-season use, the Bitterroot features four large windows to maximize air circulation for camping comfort while zippered window covers control the amount of air flow and provide privacy. No-see-um mesh will keeps out the tiniest insects. High/low door vents are featured at the top and bottom, as bottom vent drafts in cool dry air while upper opening will vent out warm moist air. A side-opening door design allows for easy access for campers to enter and exit the tent. Twin-track zippers provide separate operation of the door and window. Windows combine with large areas of permeable fabric and mesh in the roof cloth for superior air flow while minimizing condensation.

To ensure a dry and comfortable camping trip, all major seams and reinforcements are factory sealed to prevent water entry while a wrap-up bathtub floor minimizes ground level seams and will keep water out and the tent floor dry. In case you do encounter wet weather, a hooded fly on all sides protects the windows and allows for venting even while it’s raining.

When packed up, the tent and its components measure 8 by 33 inches, allowing for easy transport to your camping destinations. The tent’s fly and walls are constructed of a strong, UV-resistant polyester fabric while the floor’s durable weave is made of heavy-duty poly oxford. With a seve-foot center height, even the tallest campers will be comfortable and move around easily.

Inside the tent, two mesh pockets, four gear loft/clothesline attachments, and a flashlight loop offer additional storage opportunities while a hanging gear loft organizer keeps small essentials close at hand and out of the way.

Designed with Eureka’s StormShield features, this self-supporting, two-pole tent is quick and easy to set up with its durable shockcorded fiberglass frame, taffeta rod pockets, and clip attachments. Pole sections are interconnected with shockcords for quick set-up and to prevent lost parts. The shockcoding will also absorb and dissipate wind stress, reducing wear and tear on the tent’s fabrics.

Customer reviews for Eureka Bitterroot 11-Foot by 11-Foot Six-Person Square Dome Tent :

“First of all let me say that from experience I can tell you without a doubt that we will ONLY buy Eureka brand tents because of their quality of construction, durability, and speedy ease of setup/breakdown.

I bought this tent under the Amazon review/recommendation that two queen beds would fit inside. The truth is that technically they do “fit” inside but not comfortably. When this tent arrived we set it up in the yard to make sure everything fit well together before taking it on a trip. I inflated two of our queen mattresses and put them inside. They fit *exactly* side by side with NO room between mattresses to put a lamp, gear, or even your foot. There is plenty of room at the foot of the beds for your gear but if you are like me, when you get out of bed you want to be able to put your feet down and stand up, not having to shimmy your way to the foot of the bed to crawl out at the foot of the bed. Queen mattresses are 5′ wide. Together that is 10′ which leaves only 1-foot of space between them which sounds like it would be okay but it isn’t because mattresses with bedding are poofy and take up all the space. Period. I believe this tent would best accommodate one Queen with one Twin, or, Two doubles. In rainy weather you’d want to move your items away from the inside walls of the tent, with two Queens side by side you can’t really do this so trust me, this tent is better suited for a queen and a twin.

That being said, this tent has some EXCELLENT features. The ceiling height is absolutely HUGE. I could not touch the ceiling even on my tippy-toes. The gear loft is marvelous and would be very useful. There are two vents in the ceiling and windows on all FOUR sides which I really like for maximum ventilation! I also love the high/low vent on the door. I love the interior pocket. I love the deeply pitched rainfly over the windows – serious protection from rain coming in the windows and the fact that the seams are taped as well as double sewn. Very well done Eureka! The color is gorgeous, the rainfly sparkles like a new copper penny in the sun. The mesh is ultra fine – better than any other tent I’ve ever owned. The tent took mere minutes to set up right out of the bag and was just as easy to break down. The zippers worked smoothly, no chance of the zipper fabric getting caught in these because there isn’t any! Another finely engineered tent by Eureka! My only regret is that this tent does not come in a 13×11 size.

I want to say once again that the peaks on the rainfly are ideal for keeping wet weather away from the windows… just compare them to any other tent style to see what I mean. It’s a no brainer. The ceiling height is cavernous, really excellent of them to finally make a super tall ceiling. You’ll want to play basketball in there.

I also want to say that Eureka is spot-on when it comes to guy-line free tents! This tent is stable even without being staked down and there will be NO guy lines for you and the kids to trip over, not to mention never having to rely on the soil’s ability to hang on to a stake. Anyone who has had their stakes come out in soft or sandy soil knows exactly what I mean! No worries with this tent!

PS: We also own the Eureka Sunrise9 which fits the teens’ two twin beds beautifully and has a lot of great features. It’s also a keeper!

UPDATE! Over Memorial Day weekend we ended up taking the Bitteroot on a Disney Camping trip… gave it to the kids to use as a ’spare’ tent and OH WHAT FUN they had! They were able to fit 2 twin mattresses in there with loads and loads of room to spare. Even I, Mom, was envious. The tent is is giagantic and roomy inside but I personally wouldn’t put two queen beds side by side in there. There was so much room in this tent it was unbelieveable. They had a lot of camp-site-friends come in to play – no problem at all and ventilation was great even with a lot of goofy kids inside. It was very easy to set up. I was skeptical because we had planned to take the 9×9 but ended up packing this 11×11 instead. This tent plus another 13×10 AND a 12×10 canopy will fit in a Disney Fort Wilderness tent site no problem!

Another Upate: This tent spent it’s second trip at Hillsborough River State Park over Thanksgiving. People actually stopped by to ask about it because they watched us set it up in minutes and it’s so pretty and large. They couldn’t believe how big it was inside. Later that trip we added a third twin bed with no problems. This tent also took it’s first rain like a champ with no leaks or odd smells. I love this bitteroot!”
