“This is the second tent of this kind that I have owned. The first one lasted me for a good 6 to 8 years and I camp about 4 to 5 times a year.

Overall this is a very nice tent. It’s quite roomy. You can sleep 4 on the ground but if you use a cot then only 2. You can get 3 in on a cot but it’s very tight quarters. The height is tall enough for me to stand-up (I’m 5′10). So it is nice when you have to change clothes.

There is a small hook that hangs down in the center. It’s nice for hanging a small battery lamp for a night light.

For day use, you can roll-up the front entry flap and secure it with a elastic loop that is sown into the tent. In the back you can unzip the secondary flap to create a window.

Set-up is not difficult. One person can do it but easier with two. With practice, it can be set up in about 10~15 min.

The material from the last tent held up quite well. What did the last tent in was that the zipper gave out and the mosquito screen got torn up. (Keep Velcro hooks away from it) As for the rest of the tent, it never tore.

Also, the bag that you store the tent in was a little tight. You basically had to pack the tent the way it came from the factory to get it to fit. The best way to do it is to fold the tent to the length of the pole bag. Put the pole bag on one end of the folded tent, then roll up the tent like an old style sleeping bag. When you’re done the tent will be wrapped around the pole bag tightly. Now it will fit in the bag. You can put the pole bag in the tent case first then try to stuff the tent in but its harder to do.

I would have given this tent a 5 star rating if the zipper and mosquito would have held up longer. The rest of the tent would have lasted many more years if it wasn’t for that. Otherwise it’s a great tent.”

“I bought mine just before a 3-week trip to Scotland this summer. A fair bit of that trip was spent camping.

Quality control over the tent’s manufacture was lacking, otherwise I would have given it five stars. It had a lot of tattie loose threads on the seams and one part of the fly was slightly folded where it had been stitched, causing a small area prone to leak. Nothing in all of this that some seam-sealing and a little maintenance couldn’t fix.

Beyond that, the tent was fantastic! It was really put through its paces in interesting weather… howling winds at Glen Shiel, Lots of rain at Glen Etive and Kinlochleven, and howling winds with driving rain on Skye. It stood up to all of that without any leaks, tears, or other problems, and I thought sure it would get shredded at Glen Shiel. The netting is fine enough to keep out Scotland’s notorious midgies, so even they were not a problem.

Great tent, I would recommend it.”

“We purchased this tent for Bonnaroo 2007. The first one to arrive had some problems but as usual Amazon was lightning fast with a replacement and we were ready to take off for Manchester, Tenn. The special feature we like about this tent is the ability to attach the tent to our rental SUV. It worked flawlessly and was very easy to accomplish. We really enjoyed being able to stand up inside the tent and have all the SUV space to store things and reach them easily from inside the tent. You see a lot of different tents at Bonnaroo every year and Texsport Lodge Square Dome was one of the very good styles that we saw. Except for having to replace the first one, this was a very good product that served our needs perfectly.”

“We picked up 2 of these for a couple of 10-year old boys that were a bit annoying to tent with (“Why is there sand everywhere?”, “Which of you hooligans left the door open?”, “Why am I sleeping in kool-aid?”, “Whose underwear are on my pillow?”). They now each have their own tent! They love it, and we are all much happier. The boys sometimes set the tents up in the yard, just for fun…and camping in their own tent has really taught them a lot of responsibility.

The zippers, material, and overall quality are not great, but for twenty biguns I won’t be upset when they finally get destroyed. We have about 10 nights using them so far, and no serious problems (one zipper never worked quite right). The poles are actually really light aluminum, and quite study. The tents have little ventilation though, so they heat up fast inside (and get moist if you close the door).

I highly recommend this tent for a childs first tent. I turned the strings into loops, so the boys can more easily hook the ropes where they need to, and set it up for them once. Since then, they have been doing fine on their own. The tent even fits easily into the bag, and they can both do it (sometimes they need an adult to help squish the air out or pull up a stuck stake).

2 people will be cramped, 1 will be fine. You will want to leave the door and tiny window open so you don’t build up moisture (which will make you more cold than leaving it open). Also, you might not want to use the side tie-downs. They cause the tent to sag in the middle. We loosely attach them to something, so they only come into play during a gust of wind.

Overall, a great first tent, simple to set up, sturdy, and an excellent value.”

“Judging from of my limited use of this tent, it is excellent for the price. I do have a few complaints against it: You could probably fit two adults who are in good shape inside it, but if you do this, don’t expect to fit any gear you have with you. This isn’t really an issue for me, though, because I bought it to use by myself. That said, it is a bit difficult to set up with only one person, but not impossible, and like with most things, the more times you set it up, the easier it seems to become.

Construction wise, it seems like its put together well. When I used it, the weather was nice so I can’t comment on the water proofing or how well it will insulate, but it kept the bugs and wind out. My biggest complaint, however, is the ropes. When set up with the ropes that came with it, it seemed very unstable (not being able to stand against a stiff breeze unstable). Before even using it I replaced these with 5/50 cord and with this the tent stood much better. The stakes are typical cheep stakes that will bend after a few uses in harder/rockier ground, so you may want to also invest in more durable stakes if you camp in an area where that’s an issue.

I’m overall pleased with the tent, however. I wasn’t expecting much, for the price, but its a hardy little tent. Great value.”
